With plenty to talk about as the Montreal Canadiens are now past the midway point of their preseason, myself and Patrik Bexell got together for another episode of Habsent Minded.

While we’re still waiting for updates at this time, the biggest story around the Habs right now is the injuries to David Reinbacher and Patrik Laine. Both left the last preseason contest on crutches, and while we don’t know the severity of their respective injuries, it doesn’t look good at the moment. We talk about the circumstances surrounding those injuries, and what they could mean for the Habs as they look to finalize their opening-night lineup.

On a more positive note, Oliver Kapanen has been very impressive so far in the preseason, and perhaps these early injury issues have opened the door for him to make the team.

We discuss Kapanen’s showing so far at camp and in the preseason, and whether he could be sticking around for the long haul this season, instead of going back to Sweden.

The team also announced their first round of cuts, and while there were no surprises with respect to who was sent down to the Laval Rocket, we discuss what it means for those who weren’t, but may be on the bubble for the next round of cuts.
