P.K. Subban signs with the Montreal Canadiens, not your team.

UPDATE: Subban signed a 2 year deal paying $2M this year and $3.75M next year. Cap hit of $2.875M.

The Montreal Canadiens have finally signed stud defenseman and jack of a whole bunch of other trades P.K. Subban to a 2 year contract! Details will be available soon.

General Manager Marc Bergevin said at the Canadiens’ first post-lockout press conference that getting Subban under contract was his priority, while Subban told the Montreal Gazette and other media outlets on multiple occasions that he wanted to remain in Montreal. However, the two sides did not seem to be able to come to an agreement before today, and in fact were said to be “far apart” for quite a while, resulting in the kind of mass hysteria that Montreal’s fans and media are known for.

In 160 games with the Canadiens, Subban has 76 points, 245 penalty minutes, and unlimited kickass.

Those of us who have been swatting away annoying fans of other teams and their covetous noise about signing Subban to an offer sheet for the past six months can now gleefully rejoice in their faces.

Here is a list of NHL teams that did not sign P.K. Subban: Anaheim Ducks, Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Phoenix Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, St. Louis Blues, San Jose Sharks, Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, Washington Capitals, and Winnipeg Jets.

Booyah.
