P.K. Subban added to Team Canada

According to various sources, Team Canada general manager Steve Yzerman has had a change of heart about adding players.

Yes, Habs fans, P.K. Subban will in fact be heading to Sweden to play for Team Canada. It seemed an absurd notion when it looked like Subban would be snubbed by Yzerman in favour of playing a rookie like Brenden Dillon, or a terrible hockey player like Luke Schenn.

Perhaps a close scrape with their first real challenging opponent in the Czech Republic changed his mind.

Subban will join Canada as soon as possible, where he will be the best defenseman int he World Hockey Championship tournament. Canada boast an extremely strong forward group, but was relatively weak on defense. This addition should help them in a huge way in that department.

The last time Subban represented Team Canada, he lead the World Juniors in scoring from defensemen with 9 points in 6 games, including 3 goals, en route to the last gold medal Canada has won in the U20s, in 2009.

Canada’s chances for gold just went up.
