Montreal Canadiens confirm Noah Juulsen out indefinitely

The Montreal Canadiens released a medical update on Noah Juulsen, confirming the rumours that have been circulating since he was announced injured with the Laval Rocket.

The eye injury stems from a facial fracture that Juulsen suffered when he received two pucks to the face in the same game. Upon his return he played a few games for the Canadiens, but was sent down to the American Hockey League with the Laval Rocket.

While there his gameplay deteriorated, it became known that he continued to suffer vision-related effects from his initial injury.

La Presse learned from his agent that he probably came back too soon from the injury, and the left eye caused Juulsen problems that he tried to play through. Notably his peripheral vision was affected.

Juulsen played his last game on December 27th with the Rocket before being listed with an upper-body injury. The nature of the injury was purely speculative until Friday’s official statement.
