After a very disappointing effort last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, it turned out to be worse than just a loss for the Montreal Canadiens. This morning, they’ve announced that Noah Dobson will be out for at least two weeks with an upper-body injury.

The injury was likely sustained during the loss, although it is unclear exactly when or how this occurred. This means that he will be out for the start of the playoffs, but hopefully good to start playing sometime during the first round. This is a significant blow to a defensive corps that has already been dealing with several injuries, so they will have to get a little creative in order to give themselves the strongest possible lineup to face whoever they meet in round one.
To give themselves some options, they have decided to recall David Reinbacher from the Laval Rocket.

The early days of Reinbacher’s professional career in North America had been peppered with injuries of his own, but he has been on a pretty decent streak of health lately. The Habs are still waiting for Kaiden Guhle and Alexandre Carrier to be ready to play with issues of their own, and Reinbacher gives them an extra body to help out while they decide exactly what they want that round-one blue line to look like.
Reinbacher has suited up for 57 games with Laval this season, putting up five goals and 19 assists for a total of 24 points. He’ll join the team tonight in Long Island, and given their aforementioned injuries on the blue line, it seems very likely that he’ll see his first NHL game of the season.
