No disciplinary hearing for Torey Krug following his hit on Andrew Shaw
The Department of Player Safety has decided not to punish the hit
Following Alexei Emelin’s devastating hit on David Pastrnak, Torey Krug delivered a vicious hit during the second period of Monday night’s game between the Canadiens and Bruins.
The Department of Player Safety has decided not to schedule a disciplinary hearing for Krug.
The wording of the modified headshot rule does indeed include a caveat that takes into consideration the opposing player putting himself in a vulnerable decision.
Which means the DoPS likely thought Shaw did himself no favours by reaching for the puck during the altercation with Krug.
Thankfully Shaw returned to the ice following the hit. The Canadiens don’t play until Friday, giving the fiesty forward a lot of time to recover from any lingering injuries.
Feeling is that Shaw put himself in a vulnerable position. Made head contact unavoidable on what otherwise would have been a full bodycheck.
