2017 NHL Trade Deadline open thread & verified insiders Twitter stream

The teams have been busy in the days leading up to the 2017 NHL Trade Deadline, with names coming off the rental board well before March 1.

For the Montreal Canadiens, that has meant the additions of Jordie Benn and Steve Ott to the team, while they’ve parted ways with Greg Pateryn and David Desharnais in the process. The Habs still have cap space to work with, so Marc Bergevin may have another deal up his sleeve.

With the number of available players dwindling and time running out, the prices on the market may be high, but selling teams will also have to commit to a transaction or face the prospect of losing a player for no future assets at season’s end. It should be an interesting day, with some big names switching addresses and the balance of power shifting throughout the league.
