No more trades today for the Montreal Canadiens

New, comments

While some transactions may still trickle through the wire after 3:00, Montreal appears to be done for the day.

2013 NHL Draft

According to Renaud Lavoie of TVA, the Montreal Canadiens have finished all the trades they’re going to make prior to the deadline.

At or near the deadline, then, Marc Bergevin made five deals, almost all of which added size and experience to the lineup. It began two days ago with Greg Pateryn being traded to the Dallas Stars for Jordie Benn.

On Tuesday night, the Habs acquired Brandon Davidson from the Edmonton Oilers for David Desharnais. Later into the night, an announcement was made that Steve Ott was traded to Montreal from the Detroit Red Wings for a fourth round pick.

On deadline day, the Canadiens picked up Dwight King and Andreas Martinsen while losing Sven Andrighetto and a draft pick.

The Canadiens biggest acquisition in the last month remains Claude Julien, and the team has extended their lead on the Atlantic Division in the past few games as they continue to learn the system.

Update: The Habs have confirmed no more moves.
