Montreal Canadiens General Manager Marc Bergevin' claimed waived forward Mike Brown from the San Jose Sharks, then traded Devante Smith-Pelly to the New Jersey Devils for Stefan Matteau. The team also made an earlier move, shipping out Dale Weise and Tomas Fleischmann, and bringing in Phillip Danault and a 2018 second-round pick. He spoke to the media after a very slow last day of the transaction period in the NHL's 2015-16 season.
