NHL Trade Deadline – Scott Hannan traded to the Sharks from the Predators

After spending six years wandering around Colorado, Washington, and Nashville, 34 year old defensive minded defenseman Scott Hannan is now back where he began his career.

After dealing Douglas Murray for two 2nd round picks (one conditional), Doug Wilson has added Scott Hannan to the San Jose Sharks roster. Hannan was acquired for a conditional 7th round draft pick.

Hannan has one assist and is -11 in 29 games this season, and was a mildly negative possession player relative to his teammates on the Predators in a tough minutes role with 43.3% offensive zone starts against mid-level competition. It’s tough to see this as anything but an upgrade on Douglas Murray for a much cheaper price.

Doug Wilson has been absolutely killing it on the trade market this season, now improving his team while stockpiling picks. Expect the Sharks to be an underrated team going into the postseason.
