The Montreal Canadiens select Jake Evans with the 207th overall pick

New, comments

With the 207th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft the Montreal Canadiens have selected Jake Evans from the OJHL.

With the 207th overall pick the Habs drafted Jake Evans who recently finished up his final season in the OJHL with the St. Michael's Buzzers. Evans has committed to play in the NCAA next year at the University of Notre Dame meaning it will likely be a few years before we see him don the CH.Noted for having quick instincts and solid agility on the ice Evans is an intriguing potential project for the Canadiens to keep an eye on.  The center/right winger stands at 6' tall and weighs in at 174 lbs meaning he isn't the biggest kid but he still has time to fill out his frame at only 18 years old. He was a 7th round pick but with a decent potential upside that we can see on display in the NCAA next season.

From the Scouts:

David Burstyn of McKeens Hockey: "Jake Evans of the OJHL has sharp offensive instincts and a smooth glide, needs to work on physical strength and first step quickness"
