More injuries, more callups and a Bulldog is in the pound

The Montreals Canadiens medical ward picked up two, maybe three more patients after Tuesday night’s loss to the Washington Capitals.

Tomas Plekanec and Jeff Halpern both left the game, during the second period, with upper body injuries. After Wednesday’s off-ice workouts, in which both Halpern and Plekanec were absent, coach Jacques Martin stated that both players are classified as day-to-day.

As a precatuinary measure, the Canadiens called up Nigel Dawes and Aaron Palushaj from their AHL affiliate Hamilton Bulldogs. The team release can be read here.

Defenceman Hal Gill was also absent today, reportedly staying home sick. If it’s the flu bug, he too may be a game time decision for Thursday’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Lighning.

One player who will not be doing much of anything is Bulldogs forward Gabriel Dumont, who received a ten-game suspension from the AHL. The incident occured on Sunday, against the Rochester Americans, when Dumont hit the Evan Oberg into the boards from behind. Oberg was injured on the play, and Dunont was given a five-minute boarding major.
