Moose Jaw Warriors vs. Regina Pats: Game thread and how to watch

In a season when there isn’t much to cheer about regarding the NHL team, attention has shifted to watching the young players in the Montreal Canadiens organization.

That means watching the tenacity of Charles Hudon in puck battles, seeing Nikita Scherbak hit the highlight reel on his second NHL goal, and marvelling at the skating ability of Victor Mete.

The defensive play has been discouraging for Canadiens fans this season, but after the Habs targeted defencemen in the 2017 entry draft, there is hope for the future of the blue line.

Two of the four WHL defencemen chosen in June will face off today. Cale Fleury’s Memorial Cup-hosting Regina Pats will welcome Josh Brook and the league-leading Moose Jaw Warriors for a Sunday matinee.

After a move from the Kootenay ICE to the Regina Pats, Cale Fleury has been developing into a very promising two-way defender. Josh Brook has had some issues with bringing his A game each night he takes to the ice, but his skill is apparent when he puts everything together. They will play big roles in today’s game as the teams size each other up for a potential meeting for CHL supremacy in May.
