The Montreal Victoire made a series of roster moves on Tuesday morning ahead of their game against the Minnesota Frost on Wednesday. The team signed defender Nadia Mattivi to a standard contract and placed captain Marie-Philip Poulin on long-term injured reserve with a lower-body injury.
Poulin’s placement was retroactive to March 15, and the earliest she would be available to return is April 5. The team is 2-0-1 in three games without her this season.
Mattivi, 25, is coming off of a pretty remarkable year. She captained Italy at the 2026 Olympics, earning two assists in five games. She also had a great season with Luleå of the SDHL in Sweden, where she had five goals and 18 assists in 22 games, adding six points in six playoff games. Her team’s exit and the fact she was undrafted in the 2025 PWHL Draft meant that she was eligible to sign with any PWHL team.
Mattivi will provide defensive depth to the team, who is without Erin Ambrose already on LTIR since the Olympics. The team has been running with six defenders on the active roster.
The team has been dealing with some injury issues. On top of Ambrose and Poulin, the team added forward Maureen Murphy on LTIR before Sunday’s overtime loss to the Ottawa Charge. They signed Maya Labad to a standard contract off their reserve roster to replace her.
Mattivi likely won’t play on Wednesday, but can practice with the team and get acclimated to their systems. Her puck moving should play nicely and she can potentially slot into a top-four spot on this team providing big minutes as this team gears up for a playoff run.
