On Tuesday night, after a great free agency period and the news that the team’s general manager Danièle Sauvageau will be going into the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Montreal Victoire selected Clarkson Golden Knight defender Nicole Gosling with the fourth overall pick of the 2025 PWHL Draft.
Gosling, 22, is the all-time leading scoring defender at Clarkson University, where she played for five seasons. She is second in points-per-game among defenders at the school behind only Victoire defender Erin Ambrose.
She had 12 goals and 27 assists in 40 games last season, and over her career had 44 goals and 104 assists in 176 career NCAA games.
Her game has offence, but she’s also a player who is able to shut down defensively as well and her game compares well to Ambrose’s on Montreal’s defence. She has also represented Canada at the senior World Championships.
Montreal has five remaining picks in the 2025 Draft, which is six rounds: 12th, 20th, 28th, 36th, and 44th.
