Montreal PWHL signs F Maureen Murphy to three-year contract

Montreal PWHL has signed their third-round pick, forward Maureen Murphy, to a three-year contract the team announced on Wednesday.

Murphy is the sixth player to sign a three-year contract and every team is required to have at least six players signed to three-year contracts worth at least $80,000 per season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 23-year-old Buffalo, New York native will be making her professional debut after six years in the NCAA at Providence College and then Northeastern. In 170 NCAA games, she had 105 goals and 106 assists. She was drafted in the third round, 18th overall in the 2023 PWHL Draft. Last season, she was a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award for top NCAA player. She had 20 goals and 33 assists in 35 games, playing on Northeastern’s top line with Alina Müller and Chloé Aurard, who will also be playing in the PWHL this season.

Montreal now has 15 player signed. All teams need to get their rosters down to 27 players by Wednesday. Montreal had 32 players in their initial camp roster.
