Canadiens vs. Jets Top Six Minutes: Lights out in Winnipeg

Pre-Game Thoughts

  • First game under Ducharme – expecting some spring in their step tonight
  • Some line changes including Tatar back in with Danault-Gallagher and, more importantly, Lehkonen back in rotation which makes this writer very happy/

First Period

  • Quick start, aggressive on the puck
  • Ok I do miss going to games at BellMTS Place and seeing it empty makes me sad
  • Can confirm: Kyle Connor is good at hockey – by Price but saved by the crossbar
  • Good look by Anderson but Pionk ties him up before he can get the attempt off
  • Romanov with a nice pass to Armia who gets his third of the year, Habs up 1-0
  • A few minutes later, an odd man rush allows Drouin to get the puck right in front of Hellebuyck and Armia nets his second of the game. Just an unreal play by Drouin there who is having a great game
  • Price makes a save with 10 seconds left to keep the game 2-0 heading into the second/

Second Period

  • Anderson not on the bench to start the second period
  • Just announced that Anderson will not return to the game and you just know that slew foot will go unpunished
  • Paul Byron —> still fast
  • PP goal Jets
  • Jets now on the kill
  • WE GOT A PP GOAL?! Kotkaniemi with a nice, little tip over to Tatar and it’s 3-1 Habs
  • Tic-tac-toe between Ehlers, Statsny, and Connor who gets his second of the game. Weber out to lunch but I can’t even be mad at that one – it was gorgeous.
  • Perry takes a high stick – no call.
  • Wheeler shoots, it’s tipped. Jets tie it up. I have said it before and I will say it again – split up Weber and Chiarot please and thanks.
  • Ehlers just skating circles around the Habs tonight/

Third Period

  • Starting the period short handed
  • And another call against MTL
  • Thompson scores. Jets up 4-3. Just not feeling confident in Price right now whatsoever.
  • Habs to the power play. Gotta get one back here
  • Ducharme is not looking too pleased
  • Four unanswered goals. Latest by Dubois and it’s 5-3 Jets
  • Corey Perry and…Nik Ehlers drop the gloves…weird
  • Price to the bench with just over two minutes left in the game
  • Jets score, 6-3
  • Look, I know things aren’t going to change overnight but this one still hurts. When you have this much talent to work with, it is infuriating to see such a lacklustre performance. Fin./

Nothing. Literally not a damn thing.
