The Montreal Canadiens have moved up from their position of fourth for the 2018 NHL Entry Draft after winning the lottery for the third overall pick.
Holding the fourth-best chance of claiming the first overall selection, and a less than 30% chance of moving up, Montreal beat the odds to rise to third. After two other teams had claimed the first and second spots, the Habs won the final lottery.
