Canadiens vs. Capitals third period thread
Daniel Carr scored for the Habs to get them back in the game. It's 2-1 Capitals heading into the third period.
Jay Beagle put the Capitals up 2-0 1:30 into the second period with a wrist shot upon which Mike Condon was screened by Alexei Emelin. The Habs cut the lead in half 24 seconds later, with Daniel Carr scoring his fourth goal in ten games since being called up from St. John's, and his third goal in his past four games. Alex Galchenyuk drew his 16th assist of the season on the play (Galchenyuk is second-best on the Habs behind Brendan Gallagher for points-per-sixty-minutes with 2.61 before the start of tonight's game).
Mike Condon kept his team in the game, making saves on Alex Ovechkin and T.J. Oshie that he would not have been blamed for letting slide. But he battled through, stopping 17 shots in total in the second period.
The Habs had a powerplay with just over two minutes left in the second period, but couldn't get anything going and were often outnumbered on the puck during most of the man-advantage.
Max Pacioretty leads all Habs forwards in icetime with 12:18 and 3 shots on net. P.K. Subban leads all players in icetime with 20:32 through two periods.
