Jay Beagle put the Capitals up 2-0 1:30 into the second period with a wrist shot upon which Mike Condon was screened by Alexei Emelin. The Habs cut the lead in half 24 seconds later, with Daniel Carr scoring his fourth goal in ten games since being called up from St. John’s, and his third goal in his past four games. Alex Galchenyuk drew his 16th assist of the season on the play (Galchenyuk is second-best on the Habs behind Brendan Gallagher for points-per-sixty-minutes with 2.61 before the start of tonight’s game).
Mike Condon kept his team in the game, making saves on Alex Ovechkin and T.J. Oshie that he would not have been blamed for letting slide. But he battled through, stopping 17 shots in total in the second period.
