The Panthers got right down to business, picking up where they left off Saturday, and scored on the opening face off of the game with Aleksander Barkov capitalizing on a play set up that allowed him to streak into the Canadiens zone with speed and unload a shot past Mike Condon to put his team up 1-0. That was Barkov’s fifth goal in his past five games, and sixth of the season against the Habs.
The Habs tried to respond, only allowing one more shot from the Panthers over the next nine minutes and taking a 9-3 jump in shots on net. By the fifteen-minute mark, shots were 14-4 for the Habs, but…
Huge shot disparity, but scoring chances are 2-2.

Greg Pateryn was assessed a high-sticking penalty for hitting Aleksander Barkov with a high cross check. The Habs killed the penalty, and trail 1-0 heading into the second period.
