Montreal Canadiens vs Detroit Red Wings: Game Thread

For the first time since Detroit joined the Atlantic division, the Red Wings and the Habs will face off.

Detroit is struggling since their move to the Eastern Conference. However things aren’t much better for the Habs.

The Habs are 9-9-2 in their last 20 games. The Wings are sporting a 7-10-3 record during that time frame.

Montreal will look to bounce back from a crushing loss to the Penguins, in which they gave up 5 goals in roughly 35 minutes. Coach Michel Therrien seems to be losing his grip on reality, as is evidenced by the defensive pairings.

The saving grace is that Detroit isn’t exactly lighting the league on fire. They’ve suffered a plethora of injuries this season and some lack luster production from certain veterans.

Jonas Gustavsson, who has won four games in a row, will get the start for the Red Wings.

Once again Raphael Diaz is left off the roster, even if he’s far from being Montreal’s worse d-man, however such is life in a Therrien regime.

Puck drop is at 7:30 PM at Joe Louis Arena.
