Canadiens vs. Sabres Game Thread, roster, lines, and how to watch

This is the fourth matchup of the season between the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres, with the Sabres having won two of three in the series so far. While word on the street is the Sabres have the Habs’ number, the Habs are actually 6-4-1 against the Sabres since 2013-14. They’ll look to add another win to their record tonight, despite having only a 2.4% chance of making the playoffs with 15 games remaining in their season.

The problem for the Habs against the Sabres is more pronounced when the Sabres come to Montreal, where the Habs are 3-10-0 in their past 13 meetings. The Sabres currently sit second-last in the Eastern Conference, eight points up on the most likely team to win Auston Matthews at the draft lottery (the Toronto Maple Leafs) with 63 points, which is only five fewer than the Canadiens have accrued.

The Habs played an outstanding game Tuesday after losing four in a row on a west-coast road trip. They won 4-3 in overtime on the strength of three goals from the top line: two from Alex Galchnenyuk (who will be going for his third game in a row with two goals tonight) and one from Max Pacioretty.

Lineup notes: The only change tonight is Mike Condon taking the crease, meaning Lars Eller is still out with a mild lower-body injury.

The puck drops at 7:30 PM EST.
