Canadiens vs. Ducks third period thread

Alex Galchenyuk lost his man in the defensive zone, and when that man is Corey Perry, you're going to pay. Perry put home a rebound within a few feet of Mike Condon to give the Ducks a 2-1 lead just over two minutes into the second period.

The Ducks looked to have jumped to a 3-1 lead a couple of shifts later, but the goal was called back as the puck was batted in with a high stick.

The Habs did not start the second period like they started the game. It took them six minutes to get their first shot on net of the period. On their third shot of the period, Alex Galchenyuk cannoned home his 27th goal of the year from his favourite spot to shoot on the ice, using his one-timer again from the right faceoff circle to tie the game 2-2. Max Pacioretty made a beautiful pass to set up the goal, holding onto the puck and appearing as a shooting threat before hesitating and feeding Galchenyuk on the opposite side of the ice. Greg Pateryn also made a good play on the goal by pushing the puck to Pacioretty from the point to keep the attack alive.

Just over a minute later, Mike Brown was rewarded with his first goal as a Hab on a turnover in the Ducks zone that left him all alone in front of the net with the puck, which he released rapidly for his first goal since January 21st. Joel Hanley recorded his second assist of the game, and of his career on Brown's goal. Brown's teammates were ecstatic about the goal.

The Ducks tied it up moments later, with Jakub Silfverberg potting his second goal of the game to tie 3-3 on a perfectly placed snapshot from in close.

That's where we stand heading into the third period. The Habs scored two goals on five shots in the second period. Nice.
