Canadiens announce first round of cuts from 2016-17 training camp

The 2016-17 Montreal Canadiens roster is beginning to take shape. Today, the club released a list of 24 players who will be returning either to their respective Junior clubs, the AHL, or on to new opportunities.

Here is the list of those who will no longer be participating

Not many surprises here, as they’re mostly players expected to remain in junior, and those equipped only with AHL contracts. Zachary Fucale being sent down to the IceCaps is probably the biggest name out of the group.

The following players have been submitted to waivers: Max Friberg, Philip Samuelsson, and Bobby Farnham.

Yuri Alexandrov was released from his tryout.

Noah Juulsen and Michael McNiven have been sent back to their Junior teams.

The leaves 36 players at camp. The Canadiens will see their next action tonight against the Leafs at 7 PM Eastern time.
