Competitive hockey begins once again as rookie camps wrap up with games between NHL teams’ prospect pools this weekend. At the Bell Centre, the Montreal Canadiens are playing two games versus the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs, setting the stage for full training camps to begin next week with the veterans back in the mix.

There are plenty of exciting players to watch for the Habs. The focus will be on those vying for NHL roster spots over the new few weeks: Lane Hutson, David Reinbacher, and Logan Mailloux on defence, and Owen Beck at forward. Those players have all received prominent roles in today’s formation so the coaching staffs can get a good look at them in game action.

Other players to pay attention to will be Florian Xhekaj, Filip Mesar, and Adam Engström, who are expected to be major players for the Laval Rocket this season. There is also a chance to see Tyler Thorpe and Owen Protz in direct comparison to more established prospects before they return to their Junior teams for the season.
