Alex Belzile is back as the Montreal Canadiens have signed the forward to a one-year, two-way contract. Belzile last played in the Montreal Canadiens organization during the 22-23 season when he played for both the Canadiens and the Laval Rocket, where he was captain.
He comes from the Hartford Wolf Pack, where he has spent the last two seasons as an assistant captain, and one would expect something similar in Laval where his veteran leadership will be important.
Montreal also signed Nate Clurman to a similar deal, who comes off a season from with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization, where he played almost all games with their AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The 27-year-old will bring experience to an otherwise young squad, similar to Belzile.
Clurman is a 6’2″, 205 lbs right-shot defenceman. He played 31 games in the AHL last season, with two goals and nine assists. He also made his NHL debut for the Penguins.
The Laval Rocket also added some additional depth on AHL contracts, adding Tobie Paquette-Bisson, who will making his return to the organization. They also signed right-shot defender Wyatte Wylie, who spent last year with the Belleville Senators.
