After being recalled five days ago, the Montreal Canadiens have sent forward Rafaël Harvey-Pinard back to the Laval Rocket on Friday, the team announced.
Harvey-Pinard played in one game during his recall, on Thursday night against the Minnesota Wild. He played 8:54 in the loss, and did not register a shot on goal.
This will stop the waiver clock on Harvey-Pinard which is whichever of 30 calendar days or 10 games played comes first. The Rocket only had 12 healthy forwards and have back-to-back home games against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday and Saturday. The Canadiens start a three-game California road trip on Sunday, and it is likely they will recall a forward and defender for the trip as they are sitting at only 18 healthy skaters on the active roster. Notably, both Owen Beck and Logan Mailloux will be in California starting on Sunday for the AHL’s All-Star Classic.
Sunday is the Skills Competition and the All Star game itself is Monday.
The Rocket announced earlier in the day that forward Xavier Simoneau will be out four to six weeks with an upper body injury.
Harvey-Pinard has four goals and 11 assists in 24 AHL games this season.
