With Kaiden Guhle and Justin Barron making the next road trip for the Montreal Canadiens, there were suddenly too many defenders and the team reacted by sending Logan Mailloux back to the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League.

Mailloux played five games, scoring one goal and adding two assists. It was his first NHL goal after playing one game last season. He will now go back to the Rocket where he will likely return to the top pair with Adam Engström. Mailloux had two goals and two assists in two games with Laval prior to his recall.

The Canadiens head to Washington and Pittsburgh for two games to close out the week. Guhle and Barron both skated on Tuesday morning in regular jerseys indicating they would be close to a return.

The Rocket play three games this week, tonight at home against the Utica Comets and two games Friday and Saturday against the Providence Bruins.
