The Montreal Canadiens have sent Owen Beck and Jacob Fowler to the Laval Rocket on Friday morning.

Fowler played and lost on Thursday night against the Buffalo Sabres. With Jakub Dobeš and Samuel Montembeault seemingly back in form, Fowler’s subpar performance against the Sabres made it seem like the right time to end the three goaltender rotation. Fowler provided a boost to the team when they needed it most and now can focus on his development and enjoy his first pro all-star appearance in February.

Beck has not been in the lineup since Josh Anderson returned from his injury and will return to the Rocket. The Canadiens forwards health has been getting better, with Kirby Dach and Patrik Laine starting to skate. They still have 12 forwards healthy, so it doesn’t mean they are returning imminently, but clearly the need to keep Beck out of the rotation was no longer necessary.

The Rocket play on Friday night and Saturday afternoon against the Manitoba Moose in Laval. The Canadiens play the Ottawa Senators in Ottawa on Saturday.
