The Montreal Canadiens announced Monday morning that they have swapped forwards Owen Beck and Joshua Roy, sending Beck to the AHL’s Laval Rocket and recalling Roy.
Roy is considered an emergency recall and does not count against the team’s limit of four recalls.
Beck has played 12 games in the NHL this season, earning one assist. He will return to the Rocket, where he will be expected to play a big role for the team that is currently in first place.
Roy was recalled for the second time this season. He has played four NHL games this season and was held pointless. He has 20 goals and 15 assists in 40 games this season for the Rocket. Ironically, it was Roy’s injury that allowed Beck to replace him in the AHL All-Star Classic.
The 21-year-old Roy is currently on a three-game goal streak, including the winning goal in Saturday’s win over Rochester with seconds remaining. He has four goals in his last five games as well.
The Canadiens have back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday in Vancouver and Seattle. The Rocket play Wednesday at home against the Bridgeport Islanders.
