For the second time in three seasons, the Montreal Canadiens will open the season at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The home opener will be on Wednesday, October 9.

The two teams faced off in the 2022 season opener, which was a back and forth game won 4-3 by the Canadiens. Cole Caufield had two goals and Josh Anderson scored the game-winning goal with less than 20 seconds to go.

The next night, the Canadiens head to Boston to face the Bruins in their home opener. It won’t take time for the Canadiens to renew rivalries with their two longest rivals in the Atlantic Division.

The rest of the schedule is pretty standard. The team’s first trip to Utah will be January 14, while Utah’s visit to the Bell Centre will be on November 26.

Geoff Molson has talked about ways to change the way the team’s long road trip over the holidays and New Year in December and January. This year, they will have just one game before the Christmas break, but follow up their Florida trip after the break with one immediately to the west coast.

As is tradition, the two matinées on Super Bowl weekend will once again take place, with the opponents being the Devils and Lighting, both games taking place at the Bell Centre.

The Canadiens are hoping the final month of the season is meaningful. In April, the Canadiens will have nine games, and finish the season on April 16.
