Canadiens Red vs. White Scrimmage: Game thread, rosters, start time, and how to watch

Each year, the Montreal Canadiens end their training camp with a match featuring many of the players who will play within the organization that season. Veteran NHLers share the ice with AHL rookies and recent draft picks in a what is both a showcase of the talent in the system as well as the final tune-up before the pre-season games begin.

This afternoon’s contest at the Bell Centre is the first chance many will have to see the players new to the organization for the upcoming season, and offers a glimpse at the first stages of what is hoped to be strong partnerships that grow throughout the year.

At today’s game, that will likely mean watching how Max Pacioretty and Jonathan Drouin work together. Or seeing how effective Charles Hudon can be when sharing the ice with quality linemates.

On defence it is observing how the pairing of Karl Alzner and Jeff Petry functions, and let’s us see just how good Victor Mete can be in a big-league scenario.

It’s a live look at the process of moulding the team that will become the 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens.
