Montreal Canadiens recall Nikita Scherbak from conditioning loan

With a two week conditioning stint with the Laval Rocket wrapped up, the Montreal Canadiens have recalled forward Nikita Scherbak in the midst of their Western Canadian road trip, but he will not be joining the team as he deals with a lower-body injury.

The young winger played five games for the Laval Rocket during his stint, recording one goal on six shots. He missed the last few games dealing with his injury. While not the most impressive stat line, getting some actual game experience in is the biggest key for Scherbak right now.

The Canadiens’ fourth line has struggled a little bit, but with actual games under his belt this year, Scherbak could help inject some life into that group should he draw into the lineup.

While he is still recovering from his injury, he will likely stay in Montreal until the team returns from the West Coast. Due to the injuries to Paul Byron and Joel Armia the Canadiens do not have to send anyone down to clear a roster spot.
