The Montreal Canadiens recalled forward Jared Davidson from the Laval Rocket, the team announced on Friday.
The team also announced that Alex Newhook will miss four months with a fractured ankle, having underwent surgery on Friday. They also updated that Kaiden Guhle underwent surgery on Thursday for a partially torn adductor muscle and will miss eight-to-10 weeks. Guhle was originally supposed to be out four-to-six weeks.
This is Davidson’s first recall to the NHL, and will make his NHL debut. He has nine goals and two assists in 13 AHL games this season. He is tied for the AHL goal-scoring lead. He has 44 goals and 28 assists in 120 career AHL games.
He was the team’s fifth-round pick in 2022, 130th overall. He will become the fourth player from that draft class to make his NHL debut, joining Juraj Slafkovský, Owen Beck, and Lane Hutson. The class also has NHL hopefuls in Adam Engström, Filip Mešár, and Vinzenz Rohrer.
The Canadiens host the Boston Bruins on Saturday at the Bell Centre. The Rocket have games on Saturday and Sunday in Hartford and Providence.
