The Montreal Canadiens have recalled goaltender Jacob Fowler from the Laval Rocket ahead of their game against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday.
After Jakub Dobeš played against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday, Fowler was recalled to start against the Senators, the team confirmed. The Canadiens also confirmed that all three goaltenders are healthy.
Given the circumstances, however, it is likely that Fowler will get a run of games here after Samuel Montembeault has continued to struggle coming out of the Olympic break.
Fowler had been out with an illness, and played his first game since February 16 last week, making 35 saves in a 4-2 win over the Rochester Americans. He has played 10 NHL games this season, going 4-4-2, with a 2.62 goals against average and .902 save percentage.
In his first full professional season, Fowler has a 19-7-1 record with a 2.23 goals against average and .913 save percentage in the American Hockey League.
