After Sunday’s game versus the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Montreal Canadiens sent Owen Beck and Logan Mailloux down to the AHL. The Canadiens won’t play another game until February 22 as the NHL pauses for the 4 Nations Face-Off, while the Laval Rocket will play five times during that two-week break; important minutes for these prospects.

Beck and Mailloux joined the team during the California trip after already being in the state to participate in the AHL All-Star Game. It was another reward for their play in the minors this season.

Mailloux played two games for the Habs in this stint, bringing his total up to seven in 2024-25. On February 5, he scored his second NHL goal in a losing effort versus the Los Angeles Kings, and now returns to Laval where he’s posted nine goals and 13 assists in 36 games played.

Beck looked right at home in this latest stint after being a bit overwhelmed in a previous recall. He was one of the Canadiens’ best players in terms of possession and chance shares on Super Bowl Weekend, and it probably won’t be long before we see him back up with the Canadiens.

The two players are returning to a Rocket team that sits in first place in the AHL standings with 28 games remaining. Their returns will only help the club be even better, and the additional bodies will be welcome during a gruelling five games in seven days that await the team starting next Sunday.
