Montreal Canadiens prospect Nick Suzuki traded to Guelph in the OHL

As the Ontario Hockey League trade deadline approached, rumours started that Montreal Canadiens prospect Nick Suzuki would see himself traded for the end of the season.

That happened this morning when Suzuki was part of a big trade that saw him get traded to the Guelph Storm.

The Owen Sound Attack acquired defenceman Mark Woolley, forward Barret Kirwin, forward Zach Poirier, a 2nd round pick in 2022, a 3rd round pick in 2021, a conditional 3rd round pick in 2022 and a 4th round pick in 2019 in exchange for Suzuki, Sean Durzi and Zachary Roberts.

Guelph is currently 4th in the OHL’s Western Conference with a 20-12-7 record. They have been busy, as they have already acquired fellow Canadian World Junior team member Mackenzie Entwistle. They are led offensively by Nate Schnarr, Liam Hawel and Isaac Ratcliffe. Canadiens third-round pick Cam Hillis has nine goals and 12 assists for the Storm in 30 games.

Suzuki currently has 22 goals and 23 assists in 30 games this season with Owen Sound. He had three assists in five games with Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship.
