Montreal Canadiens announce 2018-19 pre-season schedule

The Montreal Canadiens have announced their pre-season schedule for the upcoming season. It will feature seven games.

The seven games is down from eight last year, and many people around the organization have mentioned that the busy pre-season slate a year ago may have contributed to the team’s slow start.

They had to keep more players around and didn’t have the actual team practice together much. Claude Julien has said that now that he has a say in the scheduling (last year most of the games were arranged before he was hired), he would want to change that.

The team will still play a game in Quebec CIty, down from two a year ago. They will host the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals on September 20 at the Centre Videotron. As always, it is a home-heavy slate with four games at the Bell Centre.

They will also go on the road for a couple of games in Ontario. They will face the Toronto Maple Leafs in their first visit to the newly rebranded Scotiabank Arena and the Ottawa Senators at the Canadian Tire Centre.
