Habsent Minded Episode 2.10: Lukas Vejdemo — “My dream, my goal is to play with the Canadiens”

Lukas Vejdemo joins Habsent Minded to speak about his first year abroad with the Laval Rocket. It is a different Lukas than the one I used to see in the SHL. He carries himself differently and is more self-assured.

We compare Joël Bouchard’s coaching to that of Vejdemo’s previous coach, PuckDrop guest Robert Ohlsson. Vejdemo says after the recording he was “happy we trained as hard as we did in Djurgården. It made me prepared for Bouchard’s practices. I was tired, but the others were even more tired.”

We traverse other topics such as how scary the Maurice Richard picture in the locker room is, Nikita Jevpalovs and line chemistry, and of course there are a few words about Lukas’s roommate last year at training camp, Jesperi Kotkaniemi.

2019 Canadiens Top 25 Under 25: #17 Lukas Vejdemo

Vejdemo is on the way to a practice with a few other NHLers. He knows the importance of this year for himself. It is a contract year for him and he feels the change in the Montreal organization with young players coming up through the ranks. It is now or never, and he wants to come to the camp fully prepared and fight for a place on the Montreal Canadiens roster. He knows it might not happen, but he will be ready if, or when, he gets the chance.
