The NHL has officially announced the full schedule for the 2026-27 regular season, returning to 84 games for the first time since the 1993-94 season.
The Montreal Canadiens will start on the road on the NHL’s opening night, Tuesday, September 29 in Toronto to take on the new-look Maple Leafs. They will also face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 3 in Pittsburgh’s home opener.
The first regular season game at the Bell Centre will be on October 6 when they face off against the Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes in a rematch of the Eastern Conference Final. That starts a four-game homestand that will see them face the Nashville Predators, Detroit Red Wings, and Buffalo Sabres.
On October 25, the Canadiens will hit the ice outdoors against the Winnipeg Jets in the 2026 Heritage Classic, at Princess Auto Stadium.
There will also be a return of the NHL All-Star Game in February, as well as the team’s annual Super Bowl weekend matinees, this year against the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers.
The season ends with a four-game road trip in April where the Canadiens will face off against the New York Islanders, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Ottawa Senators.
