Montreal Canadiens draft pick Michael Pezzetta has been traded by his junior team Sudbury Wolves to the Sarnia Sting.

Pezzetta could be playing his last junior season and staying on the Sudbury Wolves would have likely meant no chance at a playoff run for him. The Wolves are in the bottom of the OHL standings despite the efforts of their once captain who is having his most productive season by far.
Second on his team in points with 31, including 15 goals, he becomes an addition of value to the Sting that will use his nose for the net and his imposing physical presence to improve their middle-six. Able to skate with anyone on the Sting roster, he could prove to be an important piece for them in the next few months.
Similar to William Bitten, going from a team that struggles to score to one that has a great deal of talented offensive players could help Pezzetta’s game reach new heights.
He might not play the same amount of minutes, but being on the ice with Sarnia’s fire power could see him significantly improve a goal total that currently leads all Habs CHL prospects this season.
Pezzetta is currently playing for a contract with the Habs.
This trade should be good news to him. He gets to extend his season and a better chance to impress Montreal’s brass in a different environment, one with a solid supporting cast as the next few months will be crucial for the future of his hockey career.
While Pezzetta suffered an injury on Saturday that might keep him out of the game for a little while, but this move indicates that it is likely nothing serious. He could join the Sting on the ice as soon as this week.
