Montreal Canadiens lines at morning skate: Status quo in Pittsburgh

Despite falling in overtime to the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, the Montreal Canadiens season got off on the right foot as they played extremely well against a powerhouse offence in Toronto.

They’ll have a similar task on Saturday as they face the Pittsburgh Penguins who are coming off a seven goal outburst against the Washington Capitals on Thursday night.

As it stands now, the lineup at forward looks the same for the Canadiens, and after a strong performance against Toronto it’s hard to argue against that. The one potential change that could come down tomorrow is Tomas Plekanec drawing in for Matthew Peca, especially if the plan is for Plekanec to play his 1000th career game in the Canadiens home opener.

On defence the pairings remained the same as well, with Victor Mete and Jeff Petry locking down the top pairing while Mike Reilly and Noah Juulsen look to build on their strong season debuts. After being a healthy scratch in game one, Karl Alzner was rotating in a spot with Jordie Benn on a pairing with Xavier Ouellet.
