Montreal Canadiens Douglas Murray injured, out 6 weeks

The Montreal Canadiens have announced that newly signed defenseman Douglas Murray will miss the next six weeks with an upper body injury after seeing doctors today.

The injury was originally called minor by head coach Michel Therrien, but it seems that Murray was hurt worse than he let on. The whisperings that he was out of shape at camp are probably a little bit unfair without any real insight, but being injured so quickly makes you wonder a little.

Murray will be replaced in the lineup by Jarred Tinordi, which is good news for the Habs, because Tinordi is much better than Murray is. Surprisingly though, Montreal also announced that no defenseman would be called up as insurance.

It seems that the Canadiens would prefer if all their AHL defensemen finish training camp with the Bulldogs before getting called up, and the Habs’ light schedule could accommodate this wish. Nevertheless, once Hamilton’s training camp is over, I would expect someone to get the call.

Which Bulldogs defenseman would you call up?

Nathan Beaulieu 121
Magnus Nygren 49
Greg Pateryn 111
Morgan Ellis 8
Darren Dietz 8
