Montreal Canadiens Davis Drewiske undergoes shoulder surgery, out 5-6 months

The injuries just keep piling up for the Montreal Canadiens, as Davis Drewiske underwent shoulder surgery this morning that will keep him out for 5-6 months, most likely the rest of the season.

Drewiske was initially expected to be back around the end of October, but now it looks like the Habs will be relying on youngsters Jarred Tinordi and Nathan Beaulieu for even longer than expected.

Douglas Murray is reportedly still on schedule, but with Max Pacioretty injured last night in what is now being called a “leg injury”, the Canadiens will likely need to make some call ups at some point soon.

For the time being, the two young defensemen and Michael Bournival have filled in admirably though.

Drewiske will likely be placed on long term injured reserve in order to recoup his miniscule cap hit, which could provide Montreal with flexibility around the trade deadline.
