He is expected to be out three months, which would mean Evans would miss the team’s development camp, but players heading towards their first professional season have tended to skip that, anyways.
Evans should be ready for rookie camp, and his first professional training camp. Evans was part of the Notre Dame team that lost in the NCAA Championship game. He signed his entry-level contract on April 9.
He has yet to participate in an official team event as NCAA rules do not permit it, which is why he has left development camp early on some occasions, and has not been able to play in any rookie tournaments.
The Canadiens now have four players who have had surgery with recovery periods into the off-season as Evans joins Paul Byron, Andrew Shaw and Shea Weber.
