A few hours after announcing that Kaiden Guhle will miss the start of training camp, the Canadiens hit the ice for the first on-ice session of the 2024-25 season.

The teams are split into three groups with NHLers split amongst all three.

It’s pretty easy to read into some of the lines that Martin St-Louis is looking at to start camp. Juraj Slafkovský is with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. Patrik Laine is with Alex Newhook and Kirby Dach. Josh Anderson is with Joshua Roy and Christian Dvorak and Brendan Gallagher with Jake Evans and Joel Armia.

The three teams will be playing a round robin tournament. The first game was between Team 1 and Team 2. Team 1 won 4-2.

Here are the lines:

TEAM 1

13 CAUFIELD – 14 SUZUKI – 20 SLAFKOVSKY
51 HEINEMAN – 91 KAPANEN – 27 BARRE-BOULET
88 TUCH – 86 KIDNEY – 60 XHEKAJ
38 NOVAK

48 HUTSON – 52 BARRON
47 STRUBLE – 24 MAILLOUX
36 WOTHERSPOON

75 DOBEŠ
95 HUGHES

TEAM 2

92 LAINE – 77 DACH – 15 NEWHOOK
55 PEZZETTA – 62 BECK – 46 MEŠÁR
76 DAVIDSON – 74 GIGNAC – 57 FARRELL
38 ARSENEAU

74 XHEKAJ – 58 SAVARD
84 TRUDEAU – 85 JACOBS
54 PAQUETTE – 65 SEVIGNY

35 MONTEMBEAULT
70 CAVALLIN

Team 1 goals

P1 [1]-0 Kapanen (Heineman)
P1 [2]-1 Kapanen
P1 [3]-2 F. Xhekaj
P2 [4]-2 Slafkovsky (Caufield)

Team 2 goals

P1 1-[1] Gignac (A. Xhekaj)
P2 2-[2] Trudeau (Beck)

Mike Matheson seems to be preparing to play with David Reinbacher, while David Savard seems to be playing with Arber Xhekaj.

Combinations in camp are not necessarily the way the team will start the season, but it seems that over the winter, these are the combinations that Martin St-Louis wanted to look at.
