The Montreal Canadiens traded two-time AHL All Star defender Logan Mailloux to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Zachary Bolduc.

Bolduc, 22, is from Trois-Rivières and spent last season mostly in the NHL with the Blues, scoring 19 goals and adding 17 assists in 72 regular season games. He also had one assist in seven playoff games. In 97 career NHL games, he has 24 goals and 21 assists.

He was the Blues first-round pick, 17th overall, in the 2021 NHL Draft, the same draft where the Canadiens took Mailloux at 31st overall.

Mailloux played in eight NHL games over the last two seasons, scoring two goals and adding three assists. He has mostly played in the AHL and with the emergence of Lane Hutson, David Reinbacher, and acquisition of Noah Dobson, it became hard to picture where he fit in the organization’s future.

Bolduc provides the organization with centre depth, as they are likely losing Christian Dvorak to free agency, and have Joel Armia as an unrestricted free agent as well and traded Emil Heineman in the Dobson trade.
