Montreal Canadiens 2017 Top 25 Under 25: Introduction

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! As you may know by now, at the end of every season the EOTP staff gets together and ranks all the players in the organization that are under the age of 25.

Since we started this project several years back, we’ve been increasing community participation in the project, and this year is no different.

We had a grand total of 24 ballots cast this year, including one ballot representing the community’s rankings as a whole, as well as two standalone ballots from members Naslund and Silvertip.

Eligibility

The rules of eligibility are very simple: players who are under the age of 25 are eligible to be ranked by order of value to the team. Voters balanced perceived potential with the current situation the players find themselves in.

Here is the full list of players from which we made our selections this year. (* denotes a new addition to the series)

Last year’s results

Alex Galchenyuk took home the top spot last year by keeping Brendan Gallagher at bay during his final year of eligibility.

This year we may end up with a different player at #1, given that the incredibly skilled Jonathan Drouin joins the fold.

Where will Martin Reway finish after his illness? How high will newcomer Ryan Poehling rank? Are the Habs healthier in the prospect department than last year? Will Brett Lernout take his rightful spot on top of the list? We’ll answer those questions and more throughout the course of the series.

Your ballot

Last week we asked members of the community to fill our their ballot so we could add them to the overall results. If you forgot to keep a copy of your votes, please let me know, and I will forward your list via direct message.
