Montreal Canadiens acquire Marco Scandella from Buffalo
Marc Bergevin continues wheeling and dealing.
Minutes after moving Mike Reilly to Ottawa for a draft pick and Andrew Sturtz, Marc Bergevin made another move to shore up the defence of the Canadiens. He now acquired defender Marco Scandella from the Buffalo Sabres for a 2020 fourth-round pick.

Scandella has long been a rumoured target of Marc Bergevin and the Canadiens, and they finally snagged their man for just a fourth-round pick at the upcoming NHL draft. In 31 games for the Sabres this season, Scandella has three goals and six assists, with just eight penalty minutes.
The 29-year-old Montreal native will likely slide right into the lineup, relegating one of Brett Kulak or Victor Mete to the press box for the time being. Scandella, a left-handed shot, is also the final year of his $4 million AAV deal he signed with the Sabres, and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
