The fifth round was moving rapidly for the Montreal Canadiens who shifted gears from a massive winger in Tyler Thorpe, to selecting Latvian netminder Mikus Vecvanags at 134th overall.
Vecvanags played at multiple levels of the Latvian hockey league last season, including a nine-game stint with HS Riga where he posted a 3.00 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.
The Canadiens are back on the clock at 166th overall in the sixth round!
